My name is Adam King! In this section, you will learn more about me, my work and my qualifications!

Biograghy

Born on 11th December 2005, ADAM KING is an actor, writer, director, poet, playwright, theatre practitioner and singer-songwriter from the beautiful island of Barbados. Adam, whom is currently pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Writing and Editing (Creative Writing) with a minor in Theatre Arts at Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas, is a multitalented artist who looks to positively impact others with his stories through a variety of artistic mediums. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Adam was inspired to pursue the arts after gravely being touched by the first season of the hit HBO television series, “Euphoria.” He was significantly moved by the series' storyline and how impactful the acting performances were by the cast. As a result, Adam aspired to have that same impact on others, blooming an endearing interest in the craft of acting. However, it was not until the second season of the critically acclaimed series where his scriptwriting and directing interest was sparked. The stunning cinematography, inspiring direction and beautifully written script was the oxygen to the flame. At this time, Adam was completely immersed in STEM, studying subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examinations (CSEC) at The St. Michael School in his hometown. Now with his passion for the arts ignited, Adam has become the only person in his family to be adventuring in a career outside of STEM.  

 

Consequently, Adam clung to these new desires and aspirations later achieving an Associate degree in Theatre Arts from the Barbados Community College. In his time in the theatre arts program, Adam graced the stage in several of the colleges’ productions including playing Torvald Helmer in an iteration of the play “A Doll's House."  His directing debut however, came in the 2023 Directorial Festival where he was seen directing Act 1 Scene 3 of the play “Blood Wedding.” Also in the program, Adam was extremely lucky to work and gain training from local industry professionals such as writer-director-producers Michelle Hinkson-Cox and Dawn-Lisa Callender Smith in addition to renowned actor-director, Nala in courses like Theatre Ensemble, Voice and Speech, Performance Studies, Applied Theatre and Musical Theatre.

 

Outside of his college endeavors, Adam exercised his writing ability penning his first pilot episode of a show conceptualized by local theatre practitioner and actor Tony Thompson namely, “The Heartman Project.” As a screenwriter and playwright, Adam has written several original pieces with which he has buzzing hopes of bringing to the stage and screen.​ Also in his free time, Adam continues to express his love for poetry, crafting over 20 original poems with a few of them posted on the blog site medium. But it doesn't stop there. As an avid music lover, the also singer-songwriter has written numerous original songs on piano and guitar where he feels most at home with himself.

At Sterling College, Adam has wracked up a number of awards for his short script entitled, "Mariam's Journey." He won Best Short Script for the June edition of the Florence Film Awards, the Milan Gold Awards, the London Movie Awards and the Paris Film Awards. In addition to these, he secured a silver award for the Hollywood Gold Awards and received three honorable mentions from the International Gold Awards, the East Village New York Film Festival and the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival. 

 

In the future, Adam has hopes of making his mark in the entertainment industry, writing and directing original tv shows, films and plays, as well as performing. He also seeks to have a career in the music industry where he yearns to work on and release his own music. Adam King is a creative on the rise and his profound passion and love for the arts will certainly serve as a beacon for future success.
